The Fuego Baseball 11U (2032) squad put together a strong showing at the Jackie Robinson 42 Classic, played April 12–13, 2025, finishing in 2nd place after a weekend full of offense, walk-off wins, and resilient play.
The tournament opened with a 16-2 rout of Hustle Baseball. Fuego exploded for six runs in the first inning and eight more in the second. Vincent M belted an inside-the-park homer, while Dylan M and Quinton G each collected three hits. Brandon B drove in three runs, and the team piled up 13 stolen bases.
Game two brought another offensive outburst in a 13-5 win over NC Valley. After falling behind early, Fuego responded with a seven-run second inning sparked by Angelo’s three-RBI single. James G had a perfect 3-for-3 day, while Dylan, Rocco R, and Quinton each drove in two. The team finished with 13 hits and eight stolen bases.
Sunday began with back-to-back walk-off wins. Against the Toros, Fuego edged out a 4-3 victory on Vincent’s walk-off RBI single in the sixth. James and Quinton each had two hits, while Mayson M delivered 3.1 solid innings on the mound. The next game was even wilder, as Fuego rallied from a five-run deficit to beat Specs 9-8. Once again, Vincent came through with the game-winning hit, and Dylan M sparked the comeback with three stolen bases and four-plus innings of relief.
In the championship matchup, Fuego ran into NorCal CGE, who jumped out early and pulled away for a 10-1 win. Vincent, James, Camden, and Mayson each collected hits, but the comeback effort fell short.
Fuego 11U left the Jackie Robinson 42 Classic with a 2nd place finish, powered by big bats, aggressive base running, and late-game heroics. With two walk-off wins and plenty of offensive firepower, the boys showed grit and energy in a strong tournament run.
