Fuego 11U Claims Labor Day Championship

In their first tournament after moving up from 10U to 11U, the Fuego 11U team made an unforgettable statement, going 4-1 and capturing the NCTB Ultimate Labor Day Championship in dramatic fashion over Labor Day weekend, August 31st to September 2nd, 2024. Outscoring their opponents by a total of 50-17, the Fuego boys demonstrated heart, resilience, and the fiery determination that defines their game.

The tournament began with strong performances in pool play, but the Fuego squad faced a setback with their only loss of the weekend, falling to the Hollister Headhunters. That defeat, however, only fueled the team’s drive, as they went on a winning streak to advance to the championship game—setting up a rematch against the very team that handed them their lone defeat.

In the championship game, Fuego found themselves trailing once again, but this time they weren’t about to let history repeat itself. Down 5-2 entering the last inning, the boys mounted an epic comeback, showing incredible poise and teamwork under pressure. In that final inning, they rallied to score four clutch runs, seizing a thrilling 6-5 victory and exacting their revenge on the Headhunters.
