
Fuego 11U Dominates the NCTB Winter Blast
The Fuego 11U team delivered an unforgettable performance at the NCTB Winter Blast, dominating their way to the championship with a perfect 4-0 record and outscoring their opponents 34-10. Their stellar combination of dominant pitching, explosive offense, and unwavering determination carried them to a well-earned title.
The journey began on Saturday with two decisive wins that showcased the depth of the team’s talent. In the opener, Fuego cruised to an 11-1 victory over the Livermore Outlaws, powered by standout offensive performances from Mayson Martinez (2-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), James Gilbert (1-2, 2 RBIs, 1 run), Vincent Mitchell (1-2, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), and Tait Puntanilla (1-2, 2 RBIs, 1 run). In their second game, Fuego dominated the Pleasanton Outlaws with a 12-3 win, led by big contributions from James Gilbert (3-3, 2 runs, 2 RBIs), Vincent Mitchell (2-3, 3 runs, 1 RBI), and Mayson Martinez (2-2, 2 runs, 4 RBIs). These victories set the stage for a memorable championship run.
Sunday’s semifinal against the Pleasanton Outlaws was a true test of focus and execution. The dynamic pitching duo of Mayson Martinez (4 innings) and Joey Carlson (2 innings) combined for a no-hitter, delivering a masterclass in precision and control. Their effort, supported by stellar defense, carried the team to a hard-fought 4-2 victory and a spot in the championship game.
The championship showdown against the California Bulldogs began with adversity as Fuego fell behind 3-0 in the first inning. Refusing to back down, the team rallied with resilience and determination, clawing back to claim a thrilling 7-4 comeback victory. On the mound, Dylan Manago and James Gilbert delivered strong performances, holding the Bulldogs at bay. At the plate, the offense was unstoppable, with James Gilbert going 3-3 with 2 runs and an RBI, Vincent Mitchell contributing a 2-3 effort with an RBI, and Camden Parker finishing 2-3 with 2 runs and an RBI. Tournament MVP Camden Parker’s consistent leadership throughout the weekend was instrumental in the team’s success.
Across the tournament, the Fuego 11U offense was relentless. James Gilbert led the team with 7 hits, including 2 home runs, 6 RBIs, and 5 runs scored. Vincent Mitchell was equally outstanding with 7 hits, 5 RBIs, and 6 runs. Mayson Martinez powered in 8 RBIs with 5 hits, while Camden Parker added 4 hits, 6 runs, and 1 RBI.
This championship marked a milestone for the Fuego 11U team, whose teamwork and determination carried them to the top.
Adding to the celebration, the Fuego 14U team also brought home a championship at the same tournament, marking the first time in program history that the Fuego 14U and 11U teams captured titles at the same event. The dual championships are a testament to the strength, talent, and depth of the Fuego Baseball program.
