Colin, Derek and Marcus combined to go 6-8 in the Championship game with 8 RBI’s. Those performances and Marcus throwing a no-hitter carried us to that Championship. – Coach Mike

Coming off an impressive 1st place championship win in their previous tournament, the Fuego 12U team came in as a confident bunch into their next tournament, cruising through pool play by crushing their opponents by a combined score of 20-5. A 10-3 win vs Marin Baseball Black which featured back to back to back to back home runs (that’s right, 4 home runs in a row) by Ludo Schloetter, Colin Manago, Lucas Dullaghan and Marcus Martinez, and then a 10-2 win over the Orinda Bandits with four more home runs hit by Marcus Martinez, Derek Kubo, Lucas Dullaghan and Jacoby Matheny.

As the number one seed, they once again faced off against Marin Black in the Semifinal game, and produced another lopsided win with a final score of 18-5, and then had to face off against the 2 seed from Cupertino, the Cardinals, in the Championship game. Led on offense with two more home runs from Marcus Martinez, and home runs from Colin Manago and Derek Kubo (their 2nd home runs on the weekend), the Fuego team won in a laugher by the score of 10-1. The offensive onslaught coupled with no-hit ball pitched by Marcus Martinez on the mound made for an enjoyable game, even through the rain that fell ever so lightly throughout the entire game.
