After losing to Venom the day before and then facing them again in the championship game and winning… that was a huge statement.  – Coach Mike

After going 1-1 in Saturday pool play with an 18-5 lopsided victory over Headfirst Black Chan and then a crushing 7-2 loss to Central Coast Venom, the 12U Fuego crew went limping into Sunday bracket play, looking for their first ever 1st place finish as a team.

Sunday got off to a good start, with an impressive 9-3 win over the San Francisco Rascals, led by Lucas Dullaghan on the mound for the complete game win giving up 3 runs on 4 hits and 7 strike outs. It was an impressive team effort at the plate with the team racking up 10 hits and scoring 9 runs.

Heading into the championship game, the 12U Fuego team was slotted once again to play the Central Coast Venom who had beat them the day previously. This time around, the boys came out banging, putting up 6 runs in the first inning and another 2 runs in the 2nd inning. With Marcus Martinez on the mound and getting 9 strike outs, Fuego 12U went on to win in convincing fashion with an 11-3 win for their first ever 1st place finish and tournament championship.
